Lately

I have to apologize for my lack of posts these last few weeks.  You see, the weather is not cooperating with me.  We've had a couple of fronts come through, along with a couple of slow-moving typhoons, which have made for rainy, gloomy days here in Osaka.  Don't get me wrong, I love rainy days.  I even have a whole new appreciation for them since living in the desert, where it rarely rains, or is even cloudy.  I don't care to go out on rainy days though.  As far as I am concerned, they are best spent inside, on the couch, reading a good book or having a movie marathon.  Seeing as I don't have a choice but to go out in the rain, the only good thing about it is that I have been able to wear my Hunter rain boots.  They are oh-so-classy and I love them!

In other news, I've been shopping online...for plane tickets!  They are my favorite thing to spend money on.  They usually mean you are going to see someone special or explore a new place, so they are always exciting.  It's looking like I'm going to be flying a lot this winter (Dubai - Vienna - New Orleans - Osaka)...yay for frequent flier miles!  I'm counting down the days already (c'mon December!!)!

I have had all these grand plans to go explore temples and shrines and take loads of pictures, but since that hasn't been happening (yet), I'll leave you with some of my more recent iPhone shots.  Hope you're having a great week (and YAY for Friday!!)

Remember that premature Oktoberfest I came across in June? Well, now the area is a make-shift Mercedes Benz showroom.

Getting my burger fix at Outback Steakhouse!

I just discovered rental bikes in Umeda.  Not that I want to bike around the busy downtown area, but I love the idea!

I also discovered this fountain was actually meant for people to play in...(I thought negligent parents were just letting their kids splash in the water).  Well played, Osaka!  It looks like such a fun way to escape the heat.

Imagine how surprised I was to find Waitrose brand products in my local supermarket!  It's not even fancy or a foreign food shop!

Brrr...not ready for temps below 20!!  And check out those clouds...what a crazy sky!  I took all of these pictures over the course of about 2 minutes!!

Finally, suburban Osaka.  This is actually around the area where I work.  It was nice and cool this afternoon, and I needed to get away so I took a long walk during my break.
