Weekends

I do love the weekends.  Since arriving back in Japan in January, I have taken my weekends very, very seriously.

My number one priority: catch up on sleep!  I rarely sleep very late, but it feels so good to wake up naturally without an alarm.  An even better feeling?  Being able to just lie there without stress that if I don't get up right this second I will be late.

It has become my regular weekend routine to get out of bed, make a cup of coffee and take it back to bed with me.  Then I sit there with my iPad, sometimes for hours, chatting with my family on Skype or just pointlessly browsing the internet.

I try to get all my chores done on Saturday morning so that I can do whatever I want for the rest of the weekend.  Luckily my apartment is so small it doesn't even take 10 minutes to clean!  Then, I usually go to the grocery store for the week's shopping before it gets too crowded.  I've been really good about planning my menus for the week and getting all of my shopping done in advance, so I don't have to stop at the store each night on my way home.

After that I have the rest of the weekend to do whatever I want!  With the cold weather of late, all I've wanted to do is sit at my kotatsu and watch TV.  Over the past couple of months I've re-watched all six seasons of Gossip Girl and started re-watching Downton Abbey and Game of Thrones (from the very beginning).  I'm also obsessed with Pretty Little Liars, The Vampire Diaries, The Originals and Reign.  Even though these download throughout the week, I am too tired to watch them until the weekend, so it's my catch-up time.  Thank goodness we have the internet so I'm able to watch them all from anywhere in the world!

Now it's Sunday evening.  I've had my dinner (miso soup with soba noodles and lots of other fillings) and there's nothing else to do but chill at my kotatsu for a bit longer until bedtime.  I have a full week ahead of me, but at least I know there's a weekend with zero obligations to come at the end of it.

Have a good Sunday!
