Summer Reading

Our summer holiday starts in 10 days.  Bryn is out shopping for the trip and I've been sitting here making a list of all of the things we need to do before we leave the country for a month and a half (one item is sand-proofing the house, ha).

In preparation for the loooong flight across the world and lots of hours by the pool, I've been loading up my Kindle for the summer.  These are a few of the books I'm going to read over the next few weeks.

This is a spin-off of the Vampire Academy series. (I'm on kind of a vampire/young adult kick at the moment!) I've read the first two, and even though I'm finding them very predictable, they are still entertaining and fun to read.  There's a new one coming out at the end of July and I bet I'll be all caught up and ready for it by then!

I actually came across this trilogy when I saw a book called Call of the Kiwi on Amazon.  It caught my attention since I'm married to a New Zealander!  When I clicked on it, I saw that it was the third book in the series, so I searched for the first one, In the Land of the Long White Cloud (which Bryn tells me is the translation for the Maori name for New Zealand, Aotearoa).  It sounds like it's a historical fiction book, which is one of my favorite genres, so I'm going to give it a try.

I saw this book while browsing through the bookstore in Dubai Mall yesterday, Kinokuniya.  I was sort of doubtful it would be available for Kindle, but it was! It sounds like a typical chick lit, which I love, and it takes place in the area where I live, so I may be able to relate.  I have no idea what to expect, but why not give it a shot!

British (well, Irish) Chick Lit - check.
Inexpensive - check.
Tried and true author - check.
It checks all my boxes, so it can't possibly let me down.

Well, those ought to at least get me started on my pool-side reading - that is if I don't finish them en route! If you have any book recommendations, let me know!
