An Afternoon in the French Quarter

Yesterday I took you to the French Quarter in Fairhope, AL.  Today we're going to the real thing - the New Orleans French Quarter!

If you've followed my blog for a while you already know that I love New Orleans - it's one of the best cities in the US (in my humble opinion)!  Bryn was flying into New Orleans international airport, so we decided to head over early to grab lunch in the French Quarter and wander around a bit.  I tried hard to mix up my pictures a bit, since I have zillions of New Orleans!

We had lunch at (surprise, surprise) the Acme Oyster House.  It was shrimp po boys all around and they were delicious!  Afterwards it was time to walk it off - down Bourbon Street, through Jackson Square, then up to the French Market.  It was hot, so we moved up to the banks of the Mississippi River.  Even though that put us in the direct sun, there was a nice breeze blowing off the river.  Café du Monde is always a must when I'm in New Orleans so we had frozen café au laits and shared an order of beignets.  We were all still stuffed from lunch, but when in Rome...!  Later we ducked into the not-so-new H&M (I'm suffering from H&M withdraws...) before taking a drive down St. Charles Street, then to the airport for Bryn's arrival!  He made it, no worse for the wear, and we welcomed him to the US in style at a restaurant that I'll share with you next week.

Have a great weekend!
