We're in the USA! It only took three flights and just over 24 hours, but we made it. Our bags however...well, they took a little bit longer! They did eventually make it, so that's all that matters.
I have also gotten my birthday present...a brand new DSLR and a couple of lenses! I've wanted one for ages, and since I've been getting so interested in photography lately, I decided it was time to get a big-girl camera. I've been playing with it for the majority of the day and already love it.
After loads of research I chose the Canon EOS Rebel T5i (EOS 700D in some parts of the world) - just the body - as well as a 50mm prime lens and a nice little 28-75mm zoom. I've got a lot more learning to do, but I'm really excited for my new toy and all the possibilities! These are a few of the first photos I've taken around the house today.
^^Mom and dad are dog-sitting for my brother and sister-in-law. Their little dog Capri is the sweetest little thing!^^
We're off to the beach tomorrow for the Fourth of July, so there will be plenty more to come now that we're working off our jet lag a bit.

That cat is enormous! And I asked for an SL1 for my birthday this year, and apparently those two cameras are actually pretty similar except for a couple features. I love how your test shots came out!
