Succulents

You can find such cute succulent arrangements all over.  I like them a lot.  They are so cute, and with a little bit of background knowledge, they are pretty easy to care for.

Mom came close to buying a pre made succulent arrangement from Lowe's the other day, but when we saw the individual plants for sale, we decided it would be fun to design our own.

The first step was to find a good planter to plant them in.  Although I had read that succulents could be planted in practically anything, they really need to be in a pot that will allow for drainage.  Since we couldn't find anything that was appropriate at the antiques galleria, we tried our luck at Wal-Mart and found a bright red mini-planter.

Mom filled the planter with succulent soil, then watered it well - a tip she had read somewhere.  It seemed to work ok since the plants are still alive and well a week later!

After deciding on an arrangement, she planted them and watered them one more time.

Easy!

It turned out really cute and I can't wait to try and make one when we get back to the UAE.

  1. That is super cute! I guess in that climate she can't easily do a succulent bed (a la Martha Stewart in Maine, ha).

    1. Hey Whitney! I bet she could do a succulent bed, but I guess it's better if they can come inside during a freeze in winter...I'm far from an expert though!
